Ullikana Inn Bar Harbor Maine 207-288-9552
history
In 1885, at a time when summer cottages and mansions were identified by their names, Alpheus Hardy, a China trader from Boston, named his elegant Tudor-style home “Ullikana.” Unfortunately he never told anyone who or what Ullikana was. The name’s meaning remains a mystery: a flower, a bird, an enchanted island, a spirit or perhaps a beautiful woman. Today, however, Ullikana has come to mean the gracious hospitality of a restful bed and breakfast in the heart of Bar Harbor.
